Q: Does OXY Search include sponsored search listings within its search results?

A: Yes. OXY Search's results include sponsored (paid) listings for some keywords. Results are always listed in order of relevance, so if a sponsored listing is thought to be a good match for your search, it will be returned. Sponsored listings are always clearly marked with a "Sponsored" label or similar designation to make it clear when a sponsored result is being returned.

Q: How does OXY Search select, mix and lift out the top results, including sponsored (paid) and non-sponsored listings, from the leading search engines?

A: OXY Search’s concentrated formula lifts out the best sponsored and non-sponsored search results from the top engines on the Web—namely Google, Yahoo! Search, Bing and Ask.com. Results will generally be selected in order of relevance based on OXY Search's own search technology with OXY FIND™, and as we receive them from our search engine providers.

The ratio of sponsored to non-sponsored results depends on your search, but sponsored results are always clearly identified with a "Sponsored" or similar designation. Since OXY Search believes in full disclosure of the source and nature of the results we provide, all our ads and sponsored links are clearly identified.

The specific ranking and mix of sponsored and non-sponsored results will generally depend on the nature of your search. For example, if you are searching for product information such as prices for plasma televisions and you search for the term "plasma screen television prices", your results will generally include more sponsored results and include commercial Web pages with information on businesses offering these types of televisions for sale.

Conversely, if you are searching for non-commercial purposes, such as academic or general research purposes and search for the term "plasma screen technology", your results will weighted more toward articles, information and other non-commercial results.

A: The Advanced Search page allows you to set advanced filters and other settings for a specific search on OXY Search. These settings are reset after each search that you have executed with Advanced Search.

Preferences allows you to customize OXY Search to search based on your preferences. These settings remain in place until you change them.

A: OXY Search provides you with a list of alternative search terms under the heading "Are you looking for?" to narrow your search and help you find a better set of results. You simply click on one of the suggested links in the "Are you looking for?" section on the right-hand side of your screen. You are taken to a new set of results based on this refined search.

Q: How can I filter Adult Content from appearing in my searches?

A: Adult content can be filtered from your search results, by changing your preference settings. Simply go to the Preferences page, select the level of filtering you want and click Save Settings. “Moderate” filters only multimedia searches such as video and images. “Heavy” filters everything. Once you have set the filter to “Heavy”, it will remain on until you change your settings. Results for filtered searches are only provided by our search partners who filter results.

A: You can search for these specific categories of results by clicking on the corresponding category links at the top of the search page. You can further refine your search within each category by using the Advanced Search option. For example when you do a search for images, you can filter for specific image color, size or format. Audio and video searches can be filtered by file format or duration. News searches can be filtered by the news category, location, date or source.

Q: What does the Recent Searches feature do? Can anyone else access my Recent Searches information? Can I turn off the Recent Searches feature?

A: Recent Searches allows you to view up to fifteen (15) of your previous search terms and then click to retrieve these past results without having to re-enter and perform another search query via the search box. Simply click any link in your Recent Searches area to see results for your last ten searches.

Once you close your browser, your recent searches list will be cleared. The information for these searches is stored only for a limited period of time while you have your browser open. Recent Searches cannot be accessed from another computer.

A: OXY Search's Yellow Pages and People search results contain listings of relevant businesses and individuals for your search term. Sponsored listings are commonly identified as "Sponsors," "Sponsored Listings," "Featured Listings," "Yellow Page Advertisers" or have a similar designation. Non-sponsored results are listed in the order we receive them from our own and other third-party data providers.
